Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse
Therapists who work with adult survivors of sexual abuse recognize the importance of being able to create safety, using careful timing and titrating the return of feelings.
Objectives:
- Understand the ways that music can be used in trauma recovery.
- Recognize the complications of recovery and learn to work with the many setbacks along the way.
- Be exposed to both the damage done and the hope for healing through Laurie’s story.
- Learn how to encourage the development of support systems.
Participants will be able to recognize and understand:
- The importance of the “no talk” rule.
- The relationship between sexual abuse and addiction.
- The stages of recovery from sexual abuse.
- The use of visualization in treatment of PTSD.
