Juvenile Justice - Workshop for Young Offenders

Laurie has performed and shared her recovery with a variety of groups in the Juvenile Justice System, including troubled teenage girls who have been convicted of crimes, adolescent boys who have been identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse and girls who have been referred to alternative schools due to behavior problems.

Objectives:

• To raise awareness and provide insight for adolescents as to why they have developed a pattern of getting in trouble with the law.
• To help young people to see that there is hope for change.
• To provide the young offenders an opportunity to talk about their problems in a safe environment.
• To appeal to young people with music which gets their attention more than mere words.
• To model for them that recovery is possible.
