Addictions
A majority of those in addictions treatment and recovery have experienced childhood trauma (domestic violence, sexual abuse, verbal abuse or addiction of a parent). The Heal the Child program is very effective when presented to groups of addicts in helping them to begin to talk about their history and learn to cope with feelings without using alcohol, drugs or other compulsive behaviors.
Objectives:
- How the rules in the addictive family lead to compulsive behaviors.
- Ways to heal the wounds of childhood.
- The importance of affirmation in the recovery process.
- The relation between family of origin work and 12 step recovery.
